HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue University Northwest Women's Basketball team took on the visiting Tiffin University Dragons on Thursday evening at the Westville campus, falling in the final minutes with a 53-58 slim loss.
Scoring was slow going in the first quarter, where the Dragons outscored the Pride 13-4. By halftime, that gap had closed with a score of 22-19. The Pride shot 45% from the field in the second quarter, compared to the Dragons' 29%. No. 22 Brittany Barnard led PNW with 11 first-half points, shooting 3-3 from behind the 3-point arc.
The Pride stayed close throughout the second half of play, tying it up at 43-43 with just over 3 minutes left in the game. It was in the final minute and a half of play that the Dragons were able to reopen a narrow gap on the Pride, finalizing the very close game with the Pride falling 53-58.
The Pride will next be in action on Saturday, December 21 when they hit the road to take on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT).
