Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Austin Kordik

Matchup with First Place Rangers Ends in a 1-1 Draw.

HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Purdue Northwest Men's Soccer team welcomed the current GLIAC Conference leader -- UW-Parkside -- to Dowling Park on Friday afternoon.  In a match that the Pride controlled offensively through two full and two overtime periods, the game resulted in a 1-1 draw. PNW Head Coach Ryan Hayes is confident that the strong performance that they displayed on Pepsi Field Friday afternoon is a level of gameplay of which the Pride are fully capable.

"If we play the rest of the season like we did today, we are going to collect a lot more points down the line," said Hayes. "The level we played at today is the level we need to play at. We defended very well, and we can perform at this high of a level from here on out."

Throughout the entirety of the match, the Pride out-shot the first place Rangers 18 to 9, with a goal from Matt Bahena (Alsip, Ill./Eisenhower), assisted by Daniel Rohder (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg)Bahena and Jaimie Garcia (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) both collected 4 shots on the day, while Rhoder and Justin Barragan (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) both had two. Making a large impact on both sides of the ball, Zaden Eby-Holmes (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) collected a shot of his own, showing hustle and energy when his name was called.

The Men's Soccer program will next be in action on Sunday, October 20th at Dowling Park in Hammond. Kickoff is at 11:00 am (CT) against Northern Michigan.
