HAMMOND, Ind. -- In an early morning game against the Northern Michigan Wildcats, Purdue Northwest Men's Soccer team fell to the Wildcats 2-1. Purdue Northwest Head Coach
Ryan Hayes credits the loss to a slow start by his team, after allowing two goals to Northern Michigan early.
"We came out flat to start the first half," said Hayes. "In the end, those first 25 minutes ended up deciding the game. We outshot them and competed after those 25 minutes. Next time, we need to play all 90 minutes, and we should be okay."
Throughout the game, the Pride outshot the Wildcats 12-11, and 8-4 in the second half. Junior
Mattew Bahena (Alsip, Ill./ Eisenhower) notched his fourth goal of the season, cutting the deficit to just one goal in the 75 minute of the game. Now with 25 total shots on the year -- leading the Pride this season -- junior
Enrique Serna (Majadahonda, Spain/ Colegio San Jaime) had three shots on the day.
Pride Men's Soccer returns to the field on October 25 in Grand Rapids, Michigan as travel to Davenport University. The matchup between the Pride and the Panthers begins at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
