GRIFFITH, Ind. - The Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team won a non-conference match against Midland (Neb.) Friday afternoon.  The Pride (1-2) defeated the Warriors (1-1), 6-3, at Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club in Griffith, Ind.

PNW won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to open the match.  Ulf Grosseloh (Maximiliansau, Germany) and Carter Moldenhauer (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) won the tie-breaker against Midland's Jack Freyer and Sacha Borel at No. 1 doubles, 9-8, 7-1.  Moritz Gisy (Duesseldorf, Germany) and Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) took their match at No. 2 doubles, 9-8, 7-1. 

Grosseloh came back at No. 1 singles and won in straight sets against Fryer, 6-0, 6-2.  Gisy took his match at No. 2 singles in straight sets against Midland's Sacha Borel, 7-5, 6-2. 

Villacres won in straight sets at No. 3 singles against Midland's Alex Zollor, 6-4, 6-2.  Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) won his first career singles match at PNW in a three-set thriller, defeating Midland's Dylan Hatanelas, 7-6, 2-6, 10-7. 

Diego Pimentel (Guayaquil, Ecuador) fought hard at No. 4 singles, but dropped his match in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.  John Mamelson (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) almost forced a tie-breaker set, but Midland's Nick Claerhout won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.

Pimentel and Kennedy dropped their match at No. 3 doubles against Midland's Claerhout and Enrique Del Rio, 8-4.

PNW returns to action Thursday, Oct. 12, as the Pride host Indiana Tech at Dowling Park's Community Hospital Tennis Complex in Hammond, Ind.
