DAVENPORT, Iowa. – The Purdue University Northwest men's basketball team dropped a 94-84 decision to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent St. Ambrose University Saturday afternoon.

The Pride (1-5, 0-2 CCAC) finished the game with four players scoring in double-figures, but the Fighting Bees (1-4, 1-1 CCAC) used a pair of 20-point performances to help push SAU past the Black and Gold.

Sophomore guard Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) (Covington, Ind./Covington) led the offensive for the Pride with a team-high 19 points while Shereff Knight (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) recorded 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.

Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) (Chicago Height, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) finished the day with 14 points and nine rebounds while Max Clifford (Franklin, Ind./Roncalli) (Franklin, Ind./Roncalli) chipped in with 13 points.

Purdue Northwest led the game midway through the first half, 24-13, but St. Ambrose was able to create a run of their own, evening the score at 35-35 before taking a 42-35 lead heading in to the break.

St. Ambrose would hold on to their lead for the entire second half which, holding off any comeback efforts from the Pride, defeating the Black and Gold 94-84.

Jacoby Posley led all scorers for St. Ambrose with 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting and eight rebounds while Eric Dust recorded 21 points and eight rebounds.

The Black and Gold shot 51.5 percent from the field, compared to 45.2 percent from SAU, but the Fighting Bees made it to the charity stripe 46 times, connecting on 33 free throws which helped them capture the win over the Pride.

Purdue Northwest returns to action Tuesday night, when the Black and Gold host Olivet Nazarene in a CCAC contest at the Fitness and Recreation Center at 7 p.m. (CT).
