Alex Triantafillo enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Purdue Calumet baseball program, as he assists the pitching staff and the Peregrines' recruiting efforts.

Triantafillo is no stranger to Coach Griffin's system, playing for him at Bishop Noll before transferring to St. Francis de Sales in Chicago, Ill. After graduating from DeSales, Triantafillo moved on to Moraine Valley Community College, where he played for Dan DeCaprio before signing with West Liberty (W.Va.) University.
A hard-throwing right-hander for veteran head coach Bo McConnaughy at West Liberty, Triantafillo spent time both as a starter and in the bullpen during his two seasons at the school. As a senior with NCAA Division II Hilltoppers, he compiled a 1-2 record and a 4.45 ERA with two complete games.
After finishing up at West Liberty, Triantafillo spent the 2012 season overseas, playing professionally for the Ulm Falcons in the German Baseball Association (DBV) Regionalliga Südost. He tied for the league lead in fielding percentage (1.000) and ranked in the Top 10 in ERA and strikeouts per inning, while leading the Falcons in a number of pitching categories. Triantafillo also ranked among the team leaders in several offensive categories and led the Falcons in home runs and RBIs before returning home to pursue his dream of a college coaching career.
Triantafillo, who resides in Chesterton, Ind, is currently in the process of finalizing his bachelor's degree in management at Purdue Calumet with a specialization in marketing.
