Ryan Hayes began his tenure as Purdue University Northwest Men’s Soccer head coach in March of 2015.
During the 2018 season, Hayes led the Pride to a number of accolades. Members of the 2018 team were named All-Conference, All-Regional, and Academic All-Regional. The Pride also went on to finish third in the GLIAC conference - one point behind second and four points behind first. Hayes was later named GLIAC Coach of the Year.
Prior to this, Hayes led the Black and Gold to its second straight NAIA Postseason Tournament appearance, along with back-to-back double digit win totals and eight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victories. In his first season as head coach, Hayes led the program to its first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance, falling to Davenport University.
Hayes came to PNW via Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference member Roosevelt University, where he served as the Lakers’ top assistant for three seasons. While at Roosevelt, Hayes helped the Lakers – who reintroduced men’s soccer in 2012 – win 27 games in three years, including two CCAC playoff appearances and a fourth-place CCAC finish in 2014.
Using a strong recruiting class from primarily the Chicagoland area, the Lakers’ high-powered offense ranked second in all of the NAIA in goals per game (3.95), shots on goal (11.4) and stood first nationally in total assists (79) and assists per game (4.16) by the close of the 2014 season.
In addition to his duties at Roosevelt, Hayes served as the Executive Director and Director of Coaching at Raiders FC in Lemont, Ill., where he oversaw 27 boys and girls club soccer teams levels U7 to U18 and managed the organization’s day-to-day operations.
Prior to his time at Roosevelt, Hayes served as a Technical Director, Soccer Coach and Speed and Agility Coach for the Willmette Wings Soccer Club in Willmette, Ill., as well as a Soccer Coach for Coerver Coaching Illinois.
Hayes achieved the top United States Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License in 2014.
