Matty Bush enters his first year as a the lead assistant for Purdue Northwest Men's Basketball in 2016-17 and fourth overall after serving as the lead assistant under Matt Bush, his father, at Purdue Norht Central.Â
Bush finished his first season as the assistant coach of the Pride with a 13-17 record and a 11-10 record Chicaoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Matty helped a pair of players, Tyree Coe and Torrance Johnson receive CCAC Second-Team honors.
Prior to his time at Purdue North Central, Bush spent three seasons as as the head assistant at NCAA Division II St. Joseph's College (Ind.). There, he helped the Pumas capture a Great Lakes Valley Conference North Division championship and advance to the NCAA Elite Eight, which marked the first time an 8-seed reached that stage in NCAA Division II history.Â
Bush also spent a season as an assistant coach at Cape Coral High School (Fla.).
An alumnus of St. Joseph's College, Bush was a four-year letter winner for the Pumas, who reached the NCAA Tournament twice (2006,2008) and captured the GLVC Regular Season and tournament championship in 2006. Bush led the GLVC in 3-point shooting percentage at 54.0 percent in 2007 and was named academic all-conference in the same year.
