The Pride baseball team took on Grand Valley State University this Wednesday in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament where the Pride would fall by a score of 16-1.

Game 1: L (16-1) - 9 Innings
- Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) provided the lone run for the Pride, leading off the game with a solo home run to left field to give Purdue Northwest an early 1-0 lead. Billy Chidsey (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) added a pair of hits, including a double in the ninth inning, while Owen Winters (Kouts, Ind./Kouts), Nathan Koster (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant), and Gabe Bush (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) each recorded hits as the Pride totaled seven hits in the game.
- Owen Walkowiak (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean) got the start on the mound and kept the game competitive through the early innings, allowing three runs on six hits over 4.0 innings. Preston Burton (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) followed in relief, surrendering five runs, while Colin Pfeifer (Morris, Ill./Morris Community) and Connor Stafford (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) combined to pitch the final innings.
- Purdue Northwest jumped ahead immediately in the top of the first inning when Barrett launched a leadoff home run to left field, giving the Pride a quick 1-0 advantage.
- Grand Valley State answered in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to even the game at 1-1. Both teams were then held scoreless over the next two innings as pitching and defense settled the pace early.
- The Lakers took control in the fourth inning, using an RBI double and a sacrifice groundout to score two runs and take a 3-1 lead.
- Grand Valley State extended the lead in the fifth inning after a solo home run sparked a five-run frame. The Lakers capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to push the advantage to 8-1.
- The Lakers continued to add on in the sixth inning with seven more runs on a series of hits, walks, and RBI singles, stretching the lead to 15-1 and putting the game out of reach.
- Grand Valley State added one final run in the eighth inning on an RBI double to close out the scoring at 16-1.
