Baseball Falls in Midweek Nonconference Matchup to Parkside, 9-6

 
The Purdue Northwest baseball team continued their home stretch Tuesday for a nonconference matchup against Parkside but fell 9-6 to in a high offense battle.

The Breakdown
Game: L (9-6) (9 Innings)
  • Joey Guiliano (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) led the Pride with three hits, including a double, while scoring twice and stealing two bases.
  • Drew Kosteba (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) added two hits and two RBIs, and Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) contributed two hits and an RBI.
  • Owen Winters (Kouts, Ind./Kouts) also recorded a multi-hit game with a double and a run scored.
  • Parkside opened the game with three runs in the first inning, but the Pride immediately answered with three of their own behind RBI hits from Kosteba and Wright. Parkside regained control with a four-run third inning and added insurance runs in the eighth and ninth.
  • PNW continued to battle, scoring in the third, fifth, and sixth innings, but Parkside's early surge proved too much to overcome.
  • On the mound, Connor Stafford (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) took the loss, while Ethan Plym (Seatonville, Ill./Hall), Dylan Letke (Fremont, Calif./Washington), and Dylan McGee (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) combined for 6.2 innings of relief, allowing just one earned run across the middle and late innings.
  • Despite the loss, the Pride showed strong offensive consistency and aggressive baserunning throughout the afternoon.
