The Pride baseball team took on Wayne State University this Saturday in a GLIAC Doubleheader where the Pride would fall in game one 3-0 before dropping game two 4-2.

The Breakdown
Game 1: L (3-0) - 7 Innings
- Ben Cash (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) got the start on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits over 4.0 innings while striking out five. Owen Walkowiak (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean) followed with 2.0 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits and keeping the Pride within striking distance.
- Wayne State broke through in the second inning, scoring two runs on a pair of hits, including an RBI single and RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Warriors added an insurance run in the fourth inning on a solo home run to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Despite a solid effort on the mound, the Pride were unable to respond offensively, as Wayne State pitching combined to no-hit Purdue Northwest and close out the game.
The Breakdown
Game 2: L (4-2) – 9 Innings
- Joey Guiliano (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) led the Pride offensively with a double and a run scored, while Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) added a hit and an RBI. Drew Kosteba (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) and Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) each recorded a hit, and Doug Loden (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth inning as the Pride totaled seven hits.
- Preston Burton (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) got the start on the mound and turned in a strong outing, allowing two runs on four hits over 6.0 innings while striking out three. Mitchell Stanton (South Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) followed with 2.0 innings of relief, allowing two runs.
- Wayne State struck first in the second inning with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Pride answered in the sixth inning when Guiliano doubled and later scored on an RBI single from Wright to tie the game at 1-1.
- The game remained tight until the seventh inning when Wayne State put together a three-run frame, using timely hits to take control and extend the lead to 4-1.
- Purdue Northwest responded in the ninth inning as Kosteba reached base and later scored on Loden's RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Pride continued to threaten, bringing the tying run to the plate, but were unable to complete the comeback.
- Wayne State closed out the game to secure the 4-2 win and complete the doubleheader sweep.
