Women's Basketball stumbles to Cardinals at home

The Purdue Northwest Women's Basketball team returned home to the PNW Fitness & Recreation Center on Thursday evening, falling to Saginaw Valley State Cardinals, 92-69, in GLIAC play.

The Breakdown

  • Saginaw Valley State set the tone early, shooting 60 percent in the opening quarter to take a 19-14 lead after one. The Cardinals continued to build momentum in the second period, holding the Pride to 2-of-11 shooting and stretching the advantage to 43-20 at halftime.
  • Purdue Northwest responded with its strongest stretch in the third quarter, shooting 62.5 percent from the field and scoring 28 points in the frame. Despite the offensive surge, Saginaw Valley State kept pace and carried a 72-48 lead into the fourth.
  • In the final quarter, the Cardinals maintained control behind efficient shooting and transition scoring. The Pride continued to compete down the stretch, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome as Saginaw Valley State secured the 92-69 victory.
