PNW Track & Field Doubles Up with Strong Weekend Showing

The Pride track and field team competed at both the Davenport Invitational in Michigan and the ONU Tiger Open in Illinois over the weekend, turning in a string of strong performances. Including Eli Baumann's (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) win in the javelin, Cailey Weber's (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) heptathlon victory, and top-three finishes from Jerralee Testa (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Asby), Sara McGraw (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli), and Kiara Spates (Markham, Ill./Thorton Township).

Notable Men's Results
Davenport Invitational
  • Men's High Jump: Eli Baumann (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) took 2nd place, clearing 1.97m (6' 5.5"). He made clean jumps through 1.92m before needing a second attempt at 1.97m. He was unable to clear 2.02m.
  • Men's Pole Vault: CJ Brooks finished 5th with a clearance of 4.36m (14' 3.5"). He was successful on his first attempts through 4.21m, then made it over 4.36m on his third try before missing at 4.51m.
    Noah Thames (Brighton, Mich.) came in 7th with a mark of 4.21m (13' 9.75"), clearing up to that height on his second attempt before bowing out at 4.36m.
  • Men's Javelin: Eli Baumann (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) dominated the field with a 1st-place finish, throwing 53.56m (175' 9") on his fifth attempt after building up with several consistent marks.
  • Men's Decathlon: Tyler Bohnen placed 4th overall with 5,847 points across the ten events. Kyden Boyer (Marshal, Ill.) finished 10th with 4,683 points, followed closely by Wyatt Cordray (Mount Vernon, Mo./Mount Vernon) in 11th with a total of 4,627 points.
 
Notable Women's Results
Davenport Invitational
  • Women's Heptathlon: Cailey Weber (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) put together a strong all-around performance to claim 1st place with 3,759 points, leading the field by a wide margin.
  • Women's Heptathlon: Kelli Blissett (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) finished 4th overall, tallying 2,484 points across the seven events.
  • Women's Heptathlon: Sidney Elijah (Hebron, Ind./Hebron) rounded out the group in 5th place, earning 2,135 points.
 
Notable Men's Results
ONU Tiger Open
  • Men's 100m: DJ Willis (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park - River Forest) turned in a solid showing with a wind-aided 11.20, earning 16th overall.
  • Men's 200m: Willie Clay (Laporte, Ind.) sprinted to a 5th-place finish in 22.30, while Carson Bell (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) followed close behind in 14th with a time of 22.81.
  • Men's 800m: Josh Tuck (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) ran a strong 1:58.91 to secure 16th place. Hayden Podlin (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) was just behind him in 20th at 2:00.29.
  • Men's 110m Hurdles: Allen Akins (Gary, Ind.) posted a strong 4th-place finish in 15.91.
  • Men's 4x400m Relay: The team of Akins, Willis, Clark, and Gross crossed the line in 8th place, clocking 3:35.96.
  • Men's High Jump: Justin Farris (Lindale, Texas) cleared 1.80m (5' 10.75") to finish 7th.
  • Men's Triple Jump: Zack Bosi (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall) landed a mark of 12.10m (39' 8.5") for a 7th-place finish in the event.
  • Men's Discus: Andrew Juszczak (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) recorded a best throw of 34.47m (113' 1") to take 12th.
  • Men's Hammer: Christopher Poole (/) placed 15th with a top toss of 37.98m (124' 7"). Andrew Juszczak (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) followed in 19th with a mark of 35.00m (114' 10").
 
Notable Women's Results
ONU Tiger Open
  • Women's 100m: Carley Grabarczyk (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) turned in a strong effort with a 12.96 (1.3 wind), finishing 10th overall.
  • Women's 400m: Jerralee Testa (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Asby) ran a solid race, earning 3rd place in 1:00.64.
  • Women's 800m: Sara McGraw (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) led the way with a 3rd-place finish in 2:17.86. Alyssa Dunlap (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) followed in 10th at 2:26.99, and Sonya Wagner (Greeneville, Tenn.) took 24th in 2:40.47.
  • Women's Triple Jump: Kiara Spates (Markham, Ill./Thorton Township) landed a top jump of 11.28m (37' 0.25"), good for 2nd place.
  • Women's Discus: Kaelin Kreischer (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) placed 4th with a best mark of 35.74m (117' 3").
  • Women's Hammer: Jada Addo threw 35.83m (117' 7") to secure 8th place. Kaelin Kreischer (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) took 12th at 32.67m (107' 2"), while Kelsi Dillon (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer) finished 13th with 31.49m (103' 4").

The Track and Field will be back in action April 16th as they compete in the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas on April 16-18th.
