Softball drops two road games at Lewis

The Purdue Northwest softball team dropped two road games at Lewis playing indoors at The Dome on Wednesday afternoon, The Pride fell in Game 1, 12-4, and in Game 2, 6-0.

Game 1 
The Breakdown
  • Senior Darcy Barkauskas (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) led the Pride with two hits and one RBI.
  • Freshman Kylie Madura (Munster, Ind./Munster) added two hits.
  • Junior Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) chipped in one hit and one RBI.
  • Sophomore Hannah Rafferty-Flatter (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) earned the start on the mound for the Pride in Game 1 allowing eight runs off four hits.
  • Freshman Jordyn Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) came in relief for Purdue Northwest pitching the final five innings allowing four runs and notching two strikeouts.
  • Kadence Baccam led Lewis going 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
  • Delaney Garden started in the circle for the Flyers pitching all 3.2 innings allowing two hits with seven strikeouts.
  • Lewis got off to a strong start scoring eight runs in the first inning to take a 8-0 lead.
  • The Flyers plated another run to extend the lead to 9-0.
  • Purdue Northwest did not go down quietly, scoring four runs in the fifth to cut their deficit to 9-4.
  • Lewis ultimately scored three runs in the sixth to end the game winning 12-4.
Game 2
The Breakdown
  • Hernandez, sophomore Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), and freshman Jadyn Ramer (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) each led the Pride with one hit.
  • Freshman Rylan Gick (West Lafayette, Ind./William Henry Harrison) started in the circle for Pride and pitched all seven innings giving her best effort. She struckout eight batters, tying a season-high, while allowing five hits with six runs.
  • Three players led Lewis with one hit and two RBIs each.
  • Allie Wondrasek started on the mound for the Flyers and pitched all seven innings allowing no runs with three hits to earn the win.
  • Both teams battled and were held scoreless after five innings.
  • The sixth inning ultimately decided the game as the Flyers racked up six runs to take a 6-0 lead.
  • The Pride couldn't get the offense going and went on to fall in the end, 6-0.
