Pride Baseball Falls to Indianapolis in Road Matchup

On Tuesday, the Purdue Northwest baseball team traveled to Indianapolis for a non-conference match up against the Greyhounds of UINDY. Despite a solid effort at the plate, the Pride were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 11-3.

The Breakdown
  • AJ Reid (Highland, Ind./Highland) led the Pride's offense with three hits, including an RBI double.

  • The Greyhounds wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four runs in the first inning, including a solo home run by A. Bode and a two-run double by C. Hampton. Indianapolis extended their lead in the third with another two-run homer from Bode, making it 6-0.
  • Purdue Northwest got on the board in the fourth inning when AJ Reid (Highland, Ind./Highland) doubled to shortstop, driving in J. Guiliano to cut the deficit to 6-1. The Pride added another run in the fifth, as Reid's double put runners in scoring position before Earley crossed the plate to make it 6-2.
  • Indianapolis responded in the bottom of the inning, tacking on three more runs with a triple by N. Lukac and an RBI single from C. Mason, extending their advantage to 9-2. They later added two insurance runs in the eighth inning following a fielding error.
  • Purdue Northwest attempted to rally in the ninth, with Cole Olson (Stanton, Mich./Central Montcalm) singling through the left side to bring home Reid. However, the Greyhounds' bullpen shut the door, sealing an 11-3 victory for Indianapolis.
