Men's Basketball battles in loss to #21 Michigan Tech

The Purdue Northwest Men's Basketball team battled in a tough loss to #21 Michigan Tech on Thursday night in GLIAC action, 78-56.

  • Junior Quinton McCullough (Champaign, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) notched another double-double to lead the Pride with ten points and twelve rebounds off the bench while dishing out six assists.
  • Freshman Will Ashford (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) notched a team-high 12 points.
  • Junior Collin Albert (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran Highschool East) chipped in 11 points for Purdue Northwest.
  • As a team, the Pride ended the game shooting 20-of-57 (35.1%) from the floor and went 2-of-11 (18.2%) from the three-point line. The team also recorded nine assists with seven steals and two blocks on the defensive side.
  • Marcus Tomashek led Michigan tech with a game-high 20 points and grabbed three boards.

  • Purdue Northwest were able to get their deficit to single-digits going into halftime down 36-28.
  • The Pride came out in the second half to make the game 46-42 with 13 minutes left in the game.
  • The Huskies then gained control of the game with a 17-9 run to grab a 63-51 advantage with less then seven minutes remaining.
  • Michigan Tech didn't look back and continued the momentum for the remainder of the game as the Pride couldn't get things going offensively and fell in the end, 78-56.
  • The Pride led the game in points off turnovers, 15-5.
  • Purdue Northwest outscored the Huskies in the paint, 30-14.
Post-Game Quote from Head Coach Boomer Roberts:
"We didn't back down when they jumped out early, and we made a nice rally to cut it to 52-49 with nine minutes to go. But from there, we didn't execute as well as we needed and Tech's best players made big time shots. When you're going against the team winning the league, you have to be at your best for longer stretches, and we weren't."
