Women's Basketball drops high-scoring contest against Roosevelt

The Purdue Northwest Women's Basketball team dropped a high-scoring contest to Roosevelt in GLIAC play on Monday evening, 107-84.

The Basics

Laborers' Local 41 Player of the Game: Junior Alyssa Cole (Nashville, Ill./Nashville Community) - 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting grabbing ten rebounds for another double-double.
 
Inside The Numbers 
  • Cole led the Pride with 18 points and ten rebounds.
  • Senior Kaylen Evans (New Lenox, Ill./Nazareth Academy) also contributed 15 points.
  • Senior Akyia Baker (Newark, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) added 14 points with five boards and three assists.
  • Freshman Riley Milausnic (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) chipped in 12 points off the bench.
  • As a team, Purdue Northwest shot 31-of-54 (48.4%) from the field and 9-of-21 (42.9%) from behind the arc, while tallying nine steals and 17 assists.
  • Luka Malinka led Roosevelt with a game-high 35 points and ten rebounds.
  • Roosevelt finished the game shooting 37-of-73 (50.7%) from the floor and 12-of-28 (42.9%) from three-point range, while recording 20 assists and 11 steals.
The Breakdown
  • Roosevelt came strong in the first period taking a double-digit 27-17 lead going into the second.
  • The Pride though fought their way back in the second period, outscoring the Lakers 22-15 and cutting their deficit to 42-39 at halftime.
  • The Lakers continued to hold onto their lead but the Pride kept clawing back with Roosevelt holding a 62-58 lead with four minutes remaining in the third.
  • Roosevelt although finished the third period on a positive note, taking a 75-66 advantage heading into the fourth.
  • The fourth period was a different story as the Lakers came out firing. Purdue Northwest couldn't get their shots to fall and keep up with the Lakers outscoring them 32-18 and taking the win down the stretch, 107-84.
  • The Purdue Northwest bench outscored Roosevelts, 24-16.
  • Both teams finished with 32 points each in the paint.
  • Roosevelt held a slim advantage in rebounds over the Pride, 38-35.
