The Breakdown
  • The teams traded baskets in the first eight minutes of the game with scored tied 17-17.
  • Purdue Northwest gained a spark with a 15-4 run to take a 32-21 lead with less six minutes left in the first half.
  • The Pride held onto their double-digit lead for the rest of the first going into halftime up 40-28.
  • The second half would be a different story for both teams on the court.
  • The Cardinals started the second strong and fast with a 20-6 to take a 48-46 lead, their first since in the first half.
  • Both teams traded leads for the next few minutes with the score in fave of the Pride, 51-50, with 12 minutes remaining in the game.
  • Saginaw Valley State then took control with a 15-0 run to make the score 65-51 with less then eight minutes left.
  • The Pride tried to continue to get back into the game and cut their deficit but the Cardinals fought them off for the rest of the game.
  • Saginaw Valley State finished the game with the victory after a strong second half over Purdue Northwest, 81-68.
  • Purdue Northwest outscored the Cardinals bench, 14-7.

"We've got to find a way to put two halves together. We were excellent in the first half on both ends, and obviously struggled in the second."
