The Purdue Northwest women's soccer started the new 2024 season with a 4-0 shutout victory at home against St. Francis (Ill.) on Thursday evening.

- Four different players led the Pride with one goal each. Scoring goals for the Pride were junior Amaris Gonzalez (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South), sophomore Dakota Fulkerson (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), freshman Melissa Mwaura (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings), and senior Selma Srour (Hammond, Ind./Munster).
- Senior Emma Carter (Plainfield, Ill./Timothy Christian HS) notched an assist for the Pride.
- Freshman Poppy Jackson (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) played all 90 minutes in her career start in goal for Purdue Northwest tallying three saves for the shutout.
- Alexi Marroquin led St. Francis (Ill.) with two shots.
- Krystal Rodriguez played all 90 minutes in net for the Fighting Saints and had nine saves.
The Breakdown
- The Pride scored the first goal of the young season in the 11th minute when Mwaura scored off a corner kick from Carter to make it 1-0 early.
- Nearly 20 seconds later, Gonzalez would steal the ball in the Fighting Saints backend and net a goal to make the score 2-0.
- In the second half, Fulkerson grabbed her first career goal in the 63rd minute to increase the Pride lead to 3-0.
- Purdue Northwest netted the final goal of the game in the 82nd minute off penalty kick conversion by Srour and the Pride finished the game with a big 4-0 win.
