Men's Soccer upsets #4 Lewis to begin 2024 season

The Purdue Northwest Men's Soccer started the new 2024 season upsetting #4 Lewis on the road in a 1-0 victory on Thursday night.
 
The Basics

Inside The Numbers 

  • Freshman Michael Miljevic (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) led the Pride scoring his first collegiate goal.
  • Graduate Tobias Crosariol (Milan, Italy/German School of Milan) added three shots during the game.
  • Graduate student Tomas Rozman (Sydney, Australia/Champagnat Catholic College) played all 90 minutes in net for the Pride and recorded five saves notching the shutout. 
  • Sam Abreu and Lance Somerfield led Lewis with two shots each.
  • Sebastian Dopplehofer played all 90 minutes in frame for the Flyers and made five saves.

The Breakdown 

  • The Pride scored the first goal of the 2024 campaign and game-winning goal off a Miljevic strike in the 27th minute to give PNW a 1-0 advantage.
  • Purdue Northwest and the defense stood tall throughout the game and also nearly converted on multiple chances for another goal.
  • The Pride held on in the end for the upset win taking #4 Lewis, 1-0.
  • Purdue Northwest out-shot the Flyers, 11-9.
