The Purdue Northwest softball team took Game 2 in a very highly competitive GLIAC battle at #18 Grand Valley State on Friday afternoon. The Pride fell in Game 1, 3-0, and then in Game 2 came from behind twice to defeat the Lakers, 4-3.

Game 1
The Breakdown
- Senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian)Â led the Pride with two hits.
- Four other Pride players chipped in one hit each.
- Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay))Â started on the mound for the Pride and pitched all seven innings earning four strikeouts while allowing three runs.
- Kelsey Komorous led Grand Valley State with two hits and one RBI.
- Ashley Platek started in the circle for the Lakers and pitched all seven innings for the complete game win allowing six hits with three three strikeouts.
- GVSU took the early lead off an RBI sacrifice fly from Libby Fair to make it 1-0 in the first inning.
- The Lakers added another run in the fourth inning off a ground RBI by MaryJane Goodman to make the score 2-0.
- GVSU scored their third run in the fifth inning from a Komorous RBI double to make the final score in the end, 3-0.

- Freshman Kylie Dugan (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison) and Sophomore Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) each led the Pride with two hits and one RBI.
- Senior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) added one hit and two RBIs.
- Graduate student Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central), sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian), and freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) each chipped in one hit.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started in the circle for Pride and pitched all seven innings for the complete game win allowing only seven hits and striking out nine batters.
- Megan Koeningshof led Grand Valley State with two hits and one RBI.
- Genisis Eggart started on the mound for the Lakers and pitched all seven innings allowing eight hits, four runs, and tallied eight strikeouts.
- The Lakers took the early lead once again in the first inning make it 1-0 from a Keonigshof RBI single.
- Purdue Northwest took teh lead in the fifth inning off of RBI hits from Shroyer and Dugan to make it 2-1.
- GVSU regained the lead in the fifth from RBI hits to make it 3-2.
- The Pride did not quit and in the sixth scored two runs off two clutch RBI singles from Shroyer and Hernandez to make it 4-3.
- Purdue Northwest held on for the big Game 2 win in the end, 4-3.
