#7 DI Hockey shuts-out Saginaw Valley State in season opener

The #7 Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey opened the 2024-25 season shutting out Saginaw Valley State at home on Thursday night, 7-0.

Inside The Numbers
  • Freshman Mason Cole (Saginaw, Mich.) led the Pride with two goals.
  • Sophomore Cooper Knott (Glenwood Springs, Colo./), sophomore Chase Solberg (Anchorage, Alaska/), sophomore RJ Swaw (Orland Park, Ill./), and junior Noah Murphy (Faribault, Minn./) each added one goal and one assist for Purdue Northwest.
  • Five different Pride players chipped in one assist.
  • Sophomore Cooper Olson (Maple Grove, Minn./) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride and recorded 20 saves to earn the shutout win. 
  • Liam Donnely started in goal for the Cardinals playing the first and made 34 saves.
  • Brendan Cobb played the final 40 minutes in the net for Saginaw Valley State making 27 total saves.
The Breakdown
  • The Pride lit up the first period scoring four goals to take a 4-0 lead into the second.
  • Purdue Northwest added one goal in the second period to go up 5-0.
  • The Pride finished the game scoring two more goals in the third period to earn the win in the end, 7-0.
  • Purdue Northwest outshot SVSU during the game, 68-20.
  • The Pride also went 2-for-2 in power plays.
