Volleyball splits Day 1 of Midwest Crossover

The Purdue Northwest volleyball team split their first two games of the Midwest Volleyball Crossover defeating Missouri S&T, 3-1, then falling in a five-set battle to Illinois Springfield to end the day, 3-2.

  • Arra Cottrell (LeClaire, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) led the Pride with a game-high 21 kills and tallied three service aces.
  • Junior Marina Gronkiewicz (Munster, Ind./Munster), Freshman Kennedy Rowzee (Rock Falls, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) and sophomore Anika Huelskamp (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard)s all added eight kills each while Gronkiewicz also added 17 assists during the game.

  • Purdue Northwest finished the contest with 63 kills, 60 assists, 76 digs, and 11 blocks.
  • Illinois Springfield ended the game with 59 kills, 53 assists, 71 digs, and six blocks.
