The 3-seeded Purdue Northwest softball team opened the GLIAC Tournament defeating 4-seeded Ferris State on Thursday evening, 14-7.

- Senior Ashley Bravo (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) and junior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) led the Pride at the plate with two hits and two RBIs each.
- Senior Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) added two hits and one RBI.
- Graduate Madison Schult chipped in one hit and three RBIs.
- Junior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) contributed two RBIs during the game.
- Junior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched the first four innings.
- Junior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) came in and pitched the last three innings to earn the win.
- Verbeek led Ferris State with three hits and two RBIs.
- Gallacher started in the circle for the Bulldogs and pitched the first 2.1 innings.
- Ferris State took the lead in the third inning scoring the first three runs of the game taking a 3-0 lead.
- The Pride tied the contest up at 3-3 in the third.
- The Bulldogs retook the lead in the fourth scoring three runs and take a 6-3 advantage.
- Purdue Northwest cut the deficit to 6-5 in the fourth inning after RBI hits from Michko and Bravo.
- Ferris State added a run in the fifth to increase their lead to 7-5.
- The Pride lit up the fifth inning scoring eight runs including a three-run blast from Schultz to take the lead for the first time, 13-7.
- Purdue Northwest added a run in the sixth to increase their advantage to 14-7.
- The Pride pitching and team defense held strong the last few innings to help secure the first round victory in the end.
