The Purdue Northwest softball team upset #7 Grand Valley State in Game 2, 5-1, after falling in a highly-contested Game 1, 4-3, on Senior Day Friday afternoon. The huge win gave the Lakers their first loss in GLIAC action and became the program's first 30-win team.

The Breakdown
- Junior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) led the Pride with one hit and two RBIs.
- Junior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) added one hit and RBI.
- Senior Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central), senior Jocey Gault (West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison), and senior Ashley Bravo (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) each chipped in one hit.
- Junior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started on the mound for the Pride pitching all seven innings and notching five strikeouts.
- Goble led GVSU with three hits and one RBI.
- Beatus pitched all seven innings for the Lakers and earned nine strikeouts to help earn the win.
- The Pride got the scoring started in the second inning with a solo homerun from J.DeBoer to take a 1-0 lead.
- GVSU tied the game up in the fourth inning off an RBI double from Eiland to make it 1-1.
- The Lakers took the lead in the fifth inning scoring three runs to take a 4-1 advantage.
- Purdue Northwest tallied two runs off a Shroyer two-run shot to their deficit to 4-3 in the seventh inning but eventually fell short in the end.

- Michko led the Pride at the plate with two hits and two RBIs including a homerun.
- Sophomore Myah Stuckey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville)Â added two hits.
- J.Deboer chipped in one hit during the game.
- Senior Madison Schultz (Lafayette, Ind./Faith Christian) and Bravo each contributed one RBI.
- Junior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started in the circle and pitched all seven innings for Purdue Northwest to secure the big win. She finished with four strikeouts and only gave up one run.
- Lynch led GVSU with two hits.
- Ingram started on the mound for the Lakers and pitched all seven innings with four strikeouts.
- The Pride tallied the first runs of the game in the third inning off a two-run homer from Michko to take 2-0 lead.
- Purdue Northwest grabbed two runs off of sacrifice hits from Bravo and Schultz to extend their lead to 4-0 in the fifth.
- The Pride scored a run off a Laker error to make the score 5-0 in the sixth inning.
- GVSUÂ notched their first run in the seventh inning to make it 5-1, but the held on in the end after stellar defense and pitching for the upset victory.
