Women's Soccer battle against Davenport ends in 1-1 tie

The Purdue Northwest women's soccer team headed to Grand Rapids, Michigan this Sunday for a GLIAC conference matchup against Davenport University where the game would end in a 1-1 tie.

Inside The Numbers
  • Senior Camille Schafer (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns HS) led the Pride with two shots on goal and finding the back of the net for the Pride's lone goal.
  • Graduate Brinley Hefty played 86 minutes and contributed 4 shots.
  • Freshman Meta Fischer played all 90 minutes in goal for Purdue Northwest and tallied three saves.
  • Haley Diekevers led Davenport scoring their lone goal.
  • Bailey Gauthier played all 90 minutes in net for the panthers and had two saves.
The Breakdown
 
  • The Pride would get on the board first in the first half with a goal Camille Schafer (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns HS) in the tenth minute of the game. The Pride would close out the first half with a 1-0 lead over the pathers.
  • In the second half Davenport would answer back in the seventieth minute with a goal from Haley Diekevers assisted by Alyssa Melquist.
  • The Pride and Panther's would each play hard defense and try to find a goal to seal a victory, but the final whistle would blow ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

The Pride next return home when they take on Parkside in GLIAC play on Thursday, November 2. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. central time at Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.
