Men's Tennis falls at Davenport

CALEDONIA, Mich. — The Purdue Northwest men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 7-0 loss at Davenport on Saturday afternoon.

The doubles teams of Miguel Agustin Flores Cepeda (Monterrey, Mexico) and Levent Evyapan (Istanbul, Turkey), as well as Luca Kirchhoff (Wiesbaden, Germany) and Bjorgvin Juliusson (Reykjavik, Iceland), gave their respective opponents all they could handle before falling to similar 6-4 results.

Flores and Paul Hawes (Naples, Fla.) gave the Pride the best individual performances despite both losing their respective matches. Flores was defeated bu Quintan van Wijk 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 1-singles flight while Hawes was outlasted by Maxim Drinchich 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 6-singles flights.

With the victory last weekend at Michigan Tech, PNW (3-13, 1-6 GLIAC) did secure itself of the head-to-head tiebreaker over Michigan Tech for seventh place in the conference standings.

The loss to Davenport meant that the Pride would finish one spot outside of the GLIAC tournament.
