Men's golf in 6th at Quincy Invite after 18 holes of play

QUINCY, Ill. – The Purdue Northwest men's golf team sits in sixth place after Round 1 action in the Quincy Invitational hosted by Quincy University.
 
Alex Bishop (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) and Paul Negri (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West High School) led the way for the Pride with outstanding performances on the Par-70, 6,467-yard Quincy Country Club.
 
Bishop is tied for seventh with a 73 (+3) while Negri is just two shots behind in a tie for 10th at 5-over (75).
 
Finn Kiger (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point High School) is in a four-way tie for 29th after finishing with a 79 (+9). Brady Serafin (Beecher, Ill.) carded an 81 while Dylan Adair (Manhattan, Ill./) recorded an 86 to give the Pride a team score of 308 (+28).
 
Matthew Szmajda's (Port Barrington, Ill./) 15-over (85) completed the roster of Pride men's golfers that made the trek to Quincy.
 
William Woods University's Logan Smith is atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under with a one-shot advantage over Culver-Stockton College's Conner Bross.
 
Culver-Stockton (291) has the lead over William Woods (296) in the team competition by five strokes.
