PARK FOREST, Ill. – Sienna Lopez (Glendale Heights, Ill.) was a bright spot for the Purdue Northwest women's tennis team as she took her opponent to the brink in No. 1-singles flight action before falling 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).
The Pride (4-8, 0-1 GLIAC) were defeated by No. 50 Wayne State (7-5, 2-0 GLIAC) in the team standings 7-0 with the Warriors doing so without dropping a set in either doubles or singles play at the Park Forest Tennis Club.
Oona Kintscher (Berlin, Germany) and
Hayley Tsuen (Johannesburg, South Africa) fought hard in their respective singles matches before succumbing to similar 6-3, 6-2 results.
Wayne State got the lead in the team standings early with the doubles point by limiting PNW to just four games combined in all three matches.
UP NEXT
PNW will look to bounce back against another strong opponent within the GLIAC as the Pride welcome in Northwood University on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CDT in Park Forest.
