HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest women's tennis team opened the spring season with Sunday's regional match against Hillsdale. The Pride fell 6-1 to the Chargers inside Biermann Athletic Center.
Sienna Lopez (Glendale Heights, Ill./) earned a victory at first singles for the Pride, defeating Hillsdale's Sarah Hackman in straight sets, 7-5 & 6-1.
At sixth singles,
Mar Vilanova (Girona, Spain) pulled out a tiebreaker in the second set but came up just short in the deciding third set against Ellie Chawner.
Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator),
Nicole Uzcategui (Doral, Fla./) Salma Raslan (Cairo, Egypt) and
Hayley Tsuen (Johannesburg, South Africa) rounded out the PNW singles lineup.
The host Chargers took all three matches in the doubles competition, despite a solid outing from Dizon and Uzcategui at the second flight.
UP NEXT
PNW (3-2) hosts Division I Valpo on Saturday inside the Park Forest Tennis Club.
