PARK FOREST, Ill. — The Purdue Northwest women's tennis team defeated St. Francis (IL) 6-1 on Saturday, as the Pride finish the two-match weekend on strong note following a tough 6-1 setback last night to Illinois-Springfield.
PNW swept the doubles matchups for the opening point with a pair of 6-2 victories at No. 1 (Lopez/Tsuen) and No. 2 (Uzcategui/Dizon) Doubles, following a 6-1 triumph at the third flight (Raslan/Vilanova).
The Pride carried over that momentum to take five of the six singles flights from the Saints.
Hayley Tsuen (Johannesburg, South Africa) posted an impressive win at No. 5 Singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, while
Nicole Uzcategui (Doral, Fla./) closed strong in a three-set victory at No. 3 Singles (6-3, 2-6, 6-2).
Sienna Lopez (Glendale Heights, Ill./) claimed the victory at No. 1 Singles (6-3, 6-2) and
Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) earned a win at No. 2 Singles (6-3, 6-4).
Mar Vilanova (Girona, Spain) also picked up a win at No. 6 Singles (6-3, 6-1).
UP NEXT
PNW will travel to play against regional foes Tiffin and Walsh next weekend.
