ACHA D3 Hockey drops both games to rival #19 Purdue

The Purdue Northwest ACHA D3 Hockey team fell in both games of their weekend series against Purdue. Losing Game 1 on Friday night, 7-1, and Game 2 on Saturday evening, 6-1.

Game 1 
Inside the Numbers
  • Freshman Brett Bandstra (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) led Purdue Northwest with one goal.
  • Senior Zander Zafiro (Williams Bay, Wis,/Morris) contributed with an assist.
  • Senior Zander Zafiro (Williams Bay, Wis,/Morris) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Pride and made 27 saves.
  • Evan Spadafora led Purdue with 3 goals and an assist.
  • Aidan Lowinger played all 60 minutes in goal for Purdue and had 32 saves.
The Breakdown
  • Purdue scored the first goal of the game in the first period from Spadafore to take a 1-0 lead after one.
  • Purdue Northwest ended period one trailing by two goals. As Spadafore and Groen of Purdue each netted a goal in period 1.

  • The Pride scored their first goal in period one with Bocock netting a goal to make the score 2-1 heading into Period Two.
  • Purdue would add 2 powerplay goals in period two to expand their lead and make the score 4-1
  • In period three Purdue would put the game out of reach with 2 more powerplay goals to secure a 6-1 victory.
