GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest women's basketball team fell 64-40 to 11th-ranked Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon.
PNW dropped to 6-12 (3-8 GLIAC) following the setback while GVSU improved to 17-1 (10-1 GLIAC) and won their 12th straight.
How it happened: The Pride outscored the Lakers 15-13 in the first quarter and trailed by just a point at halftime when the Lakers led 27-26 in a low-scoring affair.
However, the Lakers came out of the halftime break on a 12-2 run and shot a blistering 67 percent in the third quarter to take control. PNW was limited to 14 points over the final 20 minutes of action on 4-of-24 (16.7%) shooting. The Pride were held to their season low in points (40), field-goal percentage (28.3) and assists (2).
Dash Shaw (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) led the Pride with 13 points, going 5 for 11 overall from the field and 3 for 4 at the free-throw line.
Kylie Schmidt (Francis Creek, Wis./Mishicot) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
GVSU's Emily Spitzley led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
