Pride wrap up play at ITA Regionals

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2021 Division II ITA Midwest Regional Championships over the weekend.

On Day 2 of competition, Leon Kah advanced in the Main A Singles Consolation Draw following a closely-contested match against Findlay's Wilfredo Lara. Kah won 7-5, 6-4 to move past Lara into the consolation quarterfinal, where his run ended after falling 6-1, 6-2 to Northwood's Leon Grundstrom.
 
Bjorgvin Juliusson also appeared in a consolation quarterfinal match in Main B Singles. The Pride newcomer advanced after winning a third-set tiebreaker over Northwood's Mathis Violet, 10-8. Juliusson moved on to play Drury's Lukas Stierling and fell 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinal round.
 
In Doubles action, PNW's Miguel Agustin Flores Cepeda and Levent Evyapan played in the Main A Draw consolation bracket. The duo fell 8-5 to Luis Dobelmann and Sylvain Garin-Michaud from Drury.
 
Then, Juliusson teamed up with Luis Alvear in the Doubles B Main Draw where they defeated Cedarville's Cole Moss and Philip Brumbaugh, 8-4, to move into the quarterfinal round. They eventually fell to Davenport's Danil Khitrou and Maxim Drinchich.
