ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest men's tennis team began play at the 2021 Division II Men's Midwest ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State University.

Friday's first day of weekend competition featured opening-round victories by Miguel Flores Cepeda in Main Draw A Singles as Luis Alvear and Levent Evyapan posted wins in Main Draw B. Alvear won 11-9 in a third-set tiebreak.

PNW's Leon Kah and Luca Kirchhoff also played closely-contested matches in Main A Draw Singles that were decided by a third-set tiebreak. Marcos Diaz competed in the opening round of Main B Draw Singles.
 
The duo of Bjorgvin Juliusson and Alvear won the opening round of doubles in Main Draw B against Lake Superior State.
