Women's Golf posts second-place finish at ONU Fall Invite

ST. ANNE, Ill. — The Purdue University Northwest women's golf team opened its season with a second-place finish at Olivet Nazarene University's Bill Johnson Fall Invite, hosted at the Elks Country Club.

PNW recorded a 36-hole team score of 695 (+119) on the 6,254-yard course, including a five stroke improvement with a final round team score of 345. The Pride opened the tournament with a team score of 350 on Friday.

Halie Wolf and Libby Huston finished one stroke apart as both were among the top 10 on the leaderboard to lead the Pride. Wolf finished at 25-over par 169 and in sixth place, which included an 85 in the first round and 84 in the second round. Huston bounced back from an 87 to post the team's low round of the weekend with an 83, and she ended up in a tie for seventh. Rounding out the PNW lineup were Miriah Gabel (177), Kaitlyn Valiska (179) and Catherine Brzycki (189).

Olivet Nazarene won the team title with a total team score of 654 (+78) and featured medalist Margaux Catafort-Sil, who shot nine-over par 153.

The top five teams included ONU, PNW, Oakland City, St. Ambrose and ONU's B team. Trinity Christian finished sixth while St. Francis ended up in seventh.

PNW returns to action on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 4-5, at the Flyer Intercollegiate hosted by Lewis University at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.
