Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – Purdue Northwest fell 4-1 to fifth-seeded Michigan Tech on the final day of the GLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament.
PNW closed out the season with a 7-10 overall record while earning the sixth seed at the conference postseason event. Michigan Tech improved to 6-9.
Sienna Lopez picked up the only point for PNW at No. 1 Singles, despite competitive play across the board on the third straight day of competition.
The Huskies claimed wins at No. 3 Singles, No. 5 Singles and No. 6 Singles. Tech also captured the top two flights to snag the doubles point.
Carolina Yepez and
Julia Yanes-Barrera pulled out a 6-3 win at No. 3 Doubles.
"Our seniors won doubles at No. 3 and we were very close at the other positions," said head coach
Lucian Tabic. "Everyone did a great job getting focused for the third consecutive day of matches. That's a lot of tennis back-to-back, and something like that usually takes its toll."
We fought hard across the board in singles, but ultimately came up a bit short on the scorecard. There is a lot to be proud of with this group as we slowly start turning our attention to the fall season."
