Box Score 2 MIDLAND, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals while the women's team dropped to the consolation bracket of the GLIAC Tournament hosted by Northwood University at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
The No. 4-seeded PNW men's tennis team (9-5) dropped the doubles point but bounced back in a big way taking the first four singles flights to finish for a 4-1 match win over Ashland, who was seeded fifth in the tournament.
Luca Kirchhoff and
Jonas Franssen won their respective singles flights with identical 6-4, 6-3 finishes.
Levent Evyapan made quick work of Ashland's Jacob Hoffman with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Paul Hawes allowed Omar Prince just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 trouncing.
The duo of Kirchhoff and
Leon Kah were able to win at the No. 2-doubles over Jordan Phelps and Tche Kun Teng 6-3.
The 6
th-seeded PNW women's tennis team (6-9) ran into a buzzsaw against Grand Valley State with the third-seeded Lakers taking a 4-0 decision giving up a total of just five games through doubles and singles play.
Nicole Uzcategui had the best performance for the Pride in dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision in her No. 4-singles flight and a 6-1 result in the No. 2-doubles flight with teammate
Patricia Dizon.
