WATERLOO, Iowa – Dominant play in all three doubles flights set the stage for the Purdue Northwest women's tennis team to race past Upper Iowa 6-1 at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.

The PNW duo of Lena Van Bergen and Sienna Lopez took the No. 1 doubles flight 6-1 over UIU's Jessa Michieli and Alejandra Abella.

Carolina Yepez and Julia Yanes-Berrera sealed the doubles point for PNW (3-4) with a 6-1 defeat of Mya Herrmann and Elaina Wall at the No. 3 lineup spot.

Nicole Uzcategui and Patricia Dizon completed the sweep for the Pride with a tightly contested 6-4 victory over Lina Ziani and Varvara Ogorodnikova (UIU) 6-4.

PNW took the first five points of individual play before UIU (1-5) would get a victory at No. 1 singles.

The No. 6-singles flight saw Yanes-Berrera take down Wall 6-0, 6-0.

Uzcategui and Yepez dropped three games each in their respective singles matches. Uzcategui defeated Abella 6-0, 6-3 while Yepez soared past Herrmann 6-3, 6-0.

Lopez and Dizon completed the scoring for PNW with wins over Michieli (6-1, 6-2) and Ziani (6-3, 6-3), respectively.
 
UP NEXT
PNW will have nearly two weeks off before opening the GLIAC portion of its schedule with Friday-Saturday series against Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech on March 19-20.

Lake Superior State will invade the Park Forest Tennis Club in Park Forest, Ill., on March 19 with first serve scheduled for noon CST. The Pride will then play Michigan Tech the following day with first serve taking place at 1 p.m. CST.
