PLAINFIELD, Ill. – The Purdue Northwest men's tennis team got a pair of three-set singles victories from Miguel Agustin Flores Cepeda and Leon Kah for the 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Lewis University at the Five Star Tennis Center.

With PNW trailing 3-2, Flores Cepeda evened the match with a 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 victory over Juan Ramirez Mejia in No. 1-singles action, improving his season record to 3-3, and that set up the heroics for Kah.

Kah lost the first set (7-6) of his match against Oskar Lusti in the No. 2-singles flight before completing the reverse sweep with a 6-4 win in the second set and 7-5 victory in the decisive third set. He improved to 5-1 on the season in singles play.

PNW (3-3) got behind early by dropping the doubles point, but the duo of Marcos Jose Diaz Gutierrez and Jonas Franssen were able to win their doubles flight 6-4 over Daniel Sowa and Jonathan Maghirang.

Franssen got the Pride on the board with a 6-0, 6-0 dismantling of Earl Lim in the No. 6-singles flight.

Paul Hawes put the Pride up 2-1 over Lewis (1-2) after defeating Sowa 6-1, 6-2.

PNW would lose at No. 3 and No. 4 singles before the thrilling finish from Flores Cepeda and Kah.

PNW has wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule and will welcome in GLIAC foes Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech in two weeks at the Park Forest Tennis Club in Park Forest, Illinois.

The match against Lake Superior State is scheduled to start at noon CST on Fri., March 19 with Michigan Tech invading Pride territory on Sat., March 20 for a match slated to start at 1 p.m. CST.
