HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Ferris State Sunday at Dowling Park.
PNW dropped to 0-2-0 (0-2-0 GLIAC) on the season while Ferris State remained unbeaten at 2-0-0 (2-0-0 GLIAC).
Ferris State's Abigail Gilmore netted the first goal and the eventual game-winner in the 40th minute. The Bulldogs added another goal before halftime and tacked on two more in the second half. Grace Verhage scored twice for the visitors.
The Pride's best scoring opportunity came early as a free kick by
Amanda Logan elevated past the keeper, but shot straight down off the bar. That would've given PNW a 1-0 lead to swing the momentum in the 24th minute.
PNW's
Leonie Heck started her first game of the season in goal and gathered three saves, while
Bridget Grady took over net duties in the second half and posted four stops.
FSU's Nora Potter picked up the win in her first start between the pipes.
The Bulldogs registered an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal and the visitors also held a 10-0 edge in corner kick attempts.
Jeantre Ann Powel produced the lone shot on goal for the Pride.
