PARK FOREST, Ill. – The Purdue Northwest men's and women's tennis teams were swept by Illinois Springfield at the Park Forest Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon.The PNW men's tennis squad (1-3) was able to take two singles points in their 5-2 loss to the Prairie Stars (2-0).

Leon Kah took a hard-fought victory over Tomas Martinez 7-6 (3) 7-6 (6) at the No.2-singles flight as Luca Kirchhoff downed Nick Revin 6-3 7-5 in No. 3-singles action.

Kah improved to 3-1 in singles action this season while Kirchhoff pulled his record even at 2-2.

Despite losing the doubles point as a team, PNW took the No. 1-doubles flight with the tandem of Miguel Agustin Flores Cepeda and Levent Evyapan earned their first win of the season by dropping Menno Servaes and Tomas Martinez 6-4.

The PNW women's tennis team (2-3) also took a 5-2 loss with UIS giving up points at the No. 5-singles and No. 6-singles flights as the Prairie Stars (2-0) traveled with just four competitors.

Carolina Yepez gave Neha Mokhasi all she wanted before bowing out 7-5 6-2 in the No. 4-singles flight for the closest finish individually for the Pride.

The PNW tennis teams will have little time to rest before their next matchup as the Pride will both take on Walsh University at the Park Forest Tennis Club on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CST to close out a four-match homestand for each squad.
