HAMMOND, Ind. — Purdue Northwest had its two-game win streak snapped by Quincy Monday as the visiting Hawks came out on top 71-62 at the Fitness & Recreation Center.
PNW dropped to 4-7 overall following the non-conference setback, while Quincy improved to 4-6 after claiming the first meeting between these two programs.
Abbie McDowell (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) and
Reagan Courier (Delavan, Wis./Big Foot) led the Pride with 20 points, apiece. McDowell hit four 3-pointers and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Courier shot an efficient 6 for 7 from the field and also made 6 of 7 attempts at the line. She added four boards, three steals and two assists.
Dash Shaw (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) chipped in with nine points while Kyle Schmidt grabbed six rebounds.
The Pride were limited to 37.9% shooting overall from the field while the Hawks shot at a 49% clip. Led by Courier, PNW's bench outscored the Quincy reserves by a 29-23 margin.
PNW never led in the contest after going down 19-12 in the first quarter. The Pride outscored the visitors in each of the second and fourth quarters, but it wasn't enough.
McDowell's layup early in the third quarter cut the deficit to three with Quincy in front 38-35. But, the Hawks would put together a 13-0 run that spanned nearly four minutes and remained out in front the rest of the way.
