PNW moves into first-place tie after big road win

The short story: Lucas Bravo Ollé (Barcelona, Spain) scored in the 85th minute as Purdue Northwest moved past first-place Davenport 2-1 on the road Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Pride moved into a two-way tie atop the GLIAC standings.
 
QUICK FACTS
  • PNW extended its win streak to three – its second three-game winning streak this season. The Pride have won six of their previous eight matches.
  • The Pride have outscored opponents by a combined score of 9-1 during the current streak.
  • Junior goalkeeper Sebastian Contreras (Joliet, Ill.) improved to 6-2 on the year after recording four saves. Contreras currently leads the GLIAC in goals-against average (0.75), goals allowed (6), wins (6) and shutouts (3).
  • Freshman midfielder Lucas Bravo Ollé (Barcelona, Spain) scored the game-winner for the second straight game. He tallied five points this week with two goals and an assist.
  • PNW trailed 1-0 at halftime until senior defender Ariel Navarro (West Haven, Conn.) tied the game with a goal in the 47th minute. It was Navarro's third goal of the season.
  • Shots on goal were even at five, apiece, while the Pride held a 4-3 edge in corner kick attempts.
  • PNW has won two straight over Davenport and four out of the past six matchups in the series against the Panthers. DU holds the all-time series lead, 5-6.
  • The two teams will meet again in the regular season finale on Nov. 4 at Dowling Park.
UP NEXT
PNW will look to keep the momentum rolling on a two-game road trip this weekend. The Pride are scheduled to play at St. Cloud State on Friday and then make the drive to Upper Iowa for Sunday's match.
