D2 Hockey has streak snapped by Davenport

Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. - The Purdue University Northwest D2 men's ice hockey team fell 9-1 to visiting Davenport on Friday afternoon inside The Kube.

PNW dropped to 3-3-0 overall and had its win streak snapped at two. Friday's matchup was Davenport's debut on the ice this season. The teams will meet again tomorrow night in Grand Rapids.

Freshman Tyler Black scored the lone goal for the Pride - his first of the season - early in the third period. Sam Bourdages and Craig Herman were each credited with an assist.

Davenport jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening period and moved ahead 4-0 at the second intermission. The Panthers out-shot the Pride 33-21 in pucks on net.

PNW goaltender Kyle Fritz logged 23 saves.

UP NEXT
The rematch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET tomorrow night in Grand Rapids.
