HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Purdue University Calumet women's tennis team defeated Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Roosevelt University, 8-1, Saturday (April 23, 2016) at the Community Hospital Tennis Complex. 

The Peregrines (7-5, 4-4 CCAC) defeated the Lakers (5-10, 2-6 CCAC) 8-1 in the regular season finale.

Lori Haas (Bismarck, Ill./Bismarck-Henning) picked up her eighth win of the year at No. 1 singles, defeating Roosevelt's Emily Zalewski in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Ashley Pabey (East Chicago, Ind./East Chicago Central) won at No. 2 singles in straight sets, defeating the Lakers' Michelle Beczarski, 6-1, 6-2. 

Kasey Kulesa (Munster, Ind./Munster) was able to hold off Roosevelt's Dominique Walker, winning the first set 6-1, falling in the second set, 7-6, then winning set three, 10-4. Abby Kvachkoff (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) grabbed her fifth victory of the season at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-3.

Cynthia Basu-Chavez (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) won at No. 5 singles over Roosevelt's Jami Dahl, 6-1, 6-2. Emily Pearson (Hammond, Ind./Morton) also picked up the victory to round out singles against Roosevelt's Courtney Pearson, 6-3, 6-0. 

Haas/Kvachkoff teamed up in No. 1 doubles to defeat RU's Michelle Beczarski and Walker, 8-2, Pabey/Basu-Chavez teamed up for the first time and got their first victory at No. 2 doubles, defeating Claudia Beczarski and Dahl, 8-2.
