HAMMOND, Ind. – With her stellar week in a 5-2 showing by the Purdue University Calumet softball team, freshman Kaitlyn Skarecky was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conferences' Player of the Week on April 21, 2015, as announced by the league office.
Skarecky, a freshman catcher and third baseman from Naperville, Ill. (Naperville Central), batted .667 (14-of-21) with 14 RBI's, nine runs scored, and an off-the-chart 1.238 slugging percentage thanks to three home runs.
One of those long balls happened to be Skarecky's second grand slam this season in a big 16-0 win over Trinity International. She recorded five RBI's in a perfect 3-for-3 performance.
Skarecky opened the week with five-straight multi-hit efforts and had another huge offensive day in the St. Francis Tournament, where she went 5-for-8 with three RBI's, two doubles and a home run in two games against the host Fighting Saints and Ashford.
She then was leading the Peregrines with seven home runs and batting .395 on the year.
Skarecky's honor was the very first CCAC weekly award in program history.
