Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Purdue University Northwest Women's Tennis team took to the road this weekend, traveling west to take on Maryville University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Pride fell to Maryville on Friday afternoon with a final score of 0-7 and dropped Saturday's matchup against UMSL 0-7.
Hindered by a couple injuries and illness, the Black and Gold fell against Maryville with a default in both singles and doubles matches.
Patricia Dizon and and
Lena van Bergen each battled in their singles matches before falling in two sets, later coming together for their doubles content where they lost 2-6 on Friday. In the match against UMSL the following day, van Bergen fought for three sets in singles before falling with final scores of 3-6, 6-3, 5-10.
Olivia Kjaer and
Kelli Canul united for doubles to claim PNW's one victory of the weekend, but it would not be enough to bring home the doubles point for the Pride.
The Pride will return to action next weekend at Park Forest Tennis Club to conclude their 2019-2020 season, taking on North Central College on Friday and Upper Iowa University on Saturday. Saturday's contest will also be marked by Senior Day, beginning at 9 a.m. (CST).
