PNW Takes Loss on the Road Against Hillsdale

Hillsdale, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest women's tennis team was defeated Sunday when they traveled to Hillsdale College for a non-conference match. The Pride lost 4-0 in singles and were knocked down 3-0 in doubles play. Junior Lena Van Bergen was taken down 6-0, 6-1 by Katie Bell of the Chargers. Senior Carolina Yepez lost 6-2, 6-1 at the hands of Hannah Cimpeanu. Sophomore Patricia Dizon lost 6-1, 6-2 by Sarah Hackman. In the last singles match, Julia Yanes- Barrera fought hard but was ultimately defeated 6-1, 4-3 by Kamryn Matthews. 

In doubles, the combination of Van Bergen/Dizon lost 6-0 in a contest against Cimpeanu/Hackman. Yanes-Barrera/Yepez were unable to overcome the duo of Bell/Chawner 6-2. To close out the day, Kelli Canul and Anna Wachowski were ultimately taken down 6-1 by Kamryn Matthews and Canela Luna. 

PNW Women's Tennis will appear again Friday, February 21, when they take on the Lewis University Flyer's at the 5 Star Tennis Center at 10 a.m. (CT).
