HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Purdue University Men's Basketball team hosted the Northern Michigan University Wildcats on Thursday, January 9. In an action-packed contest, the Pride fell short with a final score of 81-67.
Several members of the Pride put up an impressive effort against the Wildcats with
Anthony Barnard leading on the scoresheet with 22 points, seven rebounds and one steal.
Timothy Gilmore took home 10 points and
Jyrus Freels recorded seven points. The team shot 39% from the field (24-62) and 21% from behind the arc (4-19).
"We got off to a poor start tonight, and then we played them even," said Head Coach
Boomer Roberts. "We just couldn't get back into the game. They made some tough shots early and we missed some open ones. That remained the theme for the rest of the game. It's difficult to beat anyone when you go 4-19 from the 3. We gave ourselves a chance to stay in it, but we didn't make enough shots and we didn't get enough stops."
The Pride will be back in action on Saturday, January 11 when they host Michigan Tech on the Westville campus. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CT).
